Usually yes on a like-for-like swap in a standard location. Ring early, tell us the brand, capacity and fuel type off the compliance plate, and send a photo if you can. Jobs needing a new gas line or an electrical upgrade take longer.
For storage units it comes down to occupants and bathrooms. A couple in a two-bedroom unit needs less volume than a family of five with two showers going at 7am. For continuous flow, the number that matters is flow rate in litres per minute.
New installations need a tempering valve on bathroom outlets, a temperature and pressure relief valve with its drain run to an approved point, and seismic restraint on storage cylinders. Expansion control where mains pressure is high, and a safe tray above habitable space.
You can, and we do it regularly. Electric to gas means running a suitably sized gas line and dealing with flueing and clearances. Going to a heat pump means an outdoor spot with airflow and a suitable circuit. We price the changeover honestly.
Storage tanks give you ten to fifteen years, with anode condition and local water quality making the difference. Continuous flow units often run longer because there is no cylinder to corrode. Checking the relief valve and anode gets you to the top end.
